ANR ANTICIPATION : Romans d'anticipation scientifique au tournant du XIX^e siècle (1860-1940)

Au croisement de l’histoire littéraire et de l’histoire des sciences, le programme ANR « Anticipation » (2014-2019) vise à analyser la naissance d’un genre nouveau à la fin du XIX^e siècle et au début du XX^e : le roman d’anticipation scientifique. Dirigé par Claire Barel-Moisan (CNRS / ENS-Lyon), le projet réunit des chercheurs spécialistes du roman, de la presse, de la littérature populaire et de l’histoire des sciences, avec pour objectif de saisir les enjeux intellectuels, idéologiques et esthétiques dont sont porteurs ces romans d’anticipation.

At the intersection of literature history and science history, the ANR program “Anticipation” (2014-2019) proposes to analyze the birth of a new genre in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries: the scientific anticipation novel. Led by Claire Barel-Moisan (CNRS/ ENS-Lyon), a research team composed of specialists of novel, press, popular literature and science history, aims at understanding the intellectual, ideological and aesthetical issues brought by these anticipation novels.
