MEMS based Low-Power Multi-Sensors device for Bio-Logging Applications

Résumé

This paper presents a low-power recorder for bio- logging applications. Based on 3 MEMS sensors, it provides up to 750h of 8kHz audio, 50Hz accelerometer and 10Hz magnetometer time-aligned data using a compact 1950mAH Li- Ion battery. This work comes as a follow-up of a previous study concerning an audio-only device. Having 3 asynchronous sensors raises new issues regarding buffering and CPU sharing that are addressed by using a real-time OS. Results demonstrate that logger autonomy is slightly impaired but still very usable in several applications.
