Distributed Measurement Unit for Closed-Loop Functional Electrical Stimulation: Prototype for Muscular Activity Detection

Abstract

One way to face centralized Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) architecture limitations is to distribute electronics close to electrodes. These Distributed Stimulation and Measurement Units (DSU and DMU) are interconnected by a network. This paper focuses on the design and prototyping of a DMU dedicated to ElectroMyoGramm (EMG) activity reading. The paper exposes the embedded digital architecture as well as results of EMG activity detection.
